Day Ten....the last day :(

Today is the last day of Michelle and Gayla's Excellent Adventure :(

But first let me catch you up on our night last night!  We checked into our hotel around 5:30 pm and unloaded the car.  Got settled into our room and about 7:00 pm went down to the restaurant to have dinner.  Through the windows in the dining room we watched as rain came down soooo hard I could barely believe it!  I don't know how much they got but it was alot!

So our last day started with overcast skies....
We headed for Bushkill Falls with hopes of some clearing.  Our arrival at Bushkill Falls was still overcast but at least it wasn't raining!

Our walk started right across from the Falls

Bushkill Falls is referred to as the Pennsylvania Niagara Falls.  There had been so much rain the night before that the river was all stirred up making the water brown.  It was amazing to be so close to the force of it!  We started walking down the path and it was really neat that they just built the "steps" into the landscape.  If the tree was there first you walked around it...lol

We walked up and around the Falls

To the top

Then we walked along the river that feeds the Falls

To a much calmer part

As we were walking back there were three women ahead of us taking some pictures so in return for taking one of all them they took one of me and Gayla
We were very fortunate that the sun actually came out as we completed our walking tour and got back in the car to head home.  On the drive out of Bushkill Falls we had to drive slow

The guy in the car in front of us saw a little turtle trying to cross the road and stopped to help him along

As we pulled out of the park area and got on the highway the bottom of the sky fell out...

A little ways down the road it finally stopped raining and we found we were driving alongside the Delaware River and it was flowing pretty fast!  We took an exit that showed the road running along the river and found a walking bridge that spanned it.  The river was way out of its banks and there was some flooding along them.

We got home about 2:00 pm.  It sure is good to be home.  As fun as it is to be away its always good to get home.

Over the next few days I'll post a few more pics from the trip.  I know Gayla took alot of signs that were new to us so maybe I'll do a whole post of those.

But the vacation isn't over yet!  Gayla is here till Saturday so who knows what we'll get up to tomorrow!  I know it's going to involve alot of sleep :)

Day Nine....

Today was our last full day of this Excellent Adventure.  We traveled from Niagara Falls to Bartonsville, PA which is in the Poconos.  The day started out nice enough....

We had our longest drive today (5 hours) but decided since they were predicting rain at our destination that we would take a more scenic route.  There wasn't much to see since none of the tress have changed yet and our drive ended up taking 7 hours.  We did see one of the Finger Lakes

And alot of fields

By the time we got to our hotel we were driving through....yes....more rain and fog!

We hope to visit Bushkill Falls tomorrow morning but they're predicting heavy rains so we may end up just heading straight home (about 2 hours away).

This has truly been an Excellent Adventure and I'm so happy that I got to share it with my baby sister.  And yes, we are still speaking...lol

That's all for today. Going to have a bite to eat and turn in early.  Keep your fingers crossed we get a little bit of sunshine tomorrow morning!!

Day Eight....

What a great day today was!

We left Kingston under cloudy skies..

...headed for Toronto to meet Ginette, one of my knitting/tennis friends from Ravelry

How do you like her yacht there in the background?? hehe

Toronto is a beautiful city!

We had a nice lunch at a Dim Sum Restaurant and then headed out to Niagara Falls.  As soon as we checked in we unloaded the car extra quick and headed out to see the Falls.

Got the rainbow!!

Across from the Falls are these beautiful gardens...

We came back to the room for a bit and then waited until dark to head out.  Here is the view from our hotel room (that's the Sky Wheel!)
We went to the Midway and played games for a bit.  I am really good at one game and got enough coupons to win this Snowman..
We played Putt Putt at Dinosaurland. They had this really cool volcano!

We road the Sky Wheel which was very cool!

Tomorrow morning we head back to the USA.  We will have our longest drive yet.  I'm hopeful we'll see some Fall color on the way.   I can't believe our trip is almost over!  It has flown by.

Turning in for the night.  Will report from the Poconos tomorrow night...

Day Seven...

Today was our trip from Montreal to Kingston. We awoke to SUNSHINE!!!

And I actually let my sister drive Fifi!!!  While she drove I worked on my Charlize...

We made it to Ontario province....

And eventually to Kingston.

We checked in to our hotel, unloaded the car (again) and since we had a little time we visited Wool Tyme.  The shop was really cute! Plenty of natural light, a good selection of local and standard yarns and the staff was delightful!!  Managed to pick out a few yarns (mostly local yarns)

Next on our list of things to do was the Thousand Island Tours.  We drove down to the dock and got our tickets.

Took a few pictures from the dock....

We only had to wait about 20 minutes for our boat.

We did the 90 minute Discover tour and it was a perfect day for it.  The tour was very informative.

I don't remember all the island names but we saw Fort Henry

and lots of other islands

And I think I want to buy the house and live on this island...

One of the other passengers took this picture of me and Gayla

It was a very fun day....

We are finding that the further west we travel the more "Americanized" Canada is becoming.  Quebec was primarily French, Montreal was much more diverse and Kingston feels like I'm back in the USA.

Tomorrow we head for Niagara Falls - Canada side - and the Maid of the Mist.  Only 3 days left of Michelle and Gayla's Excellent Adventure :(

(Mom and Dad - We know you are reading this but, for some reason aren't able to comment.  Just want you to know we are fine, having a great time, can't call from Canada but will call as soon as we get back in the US. Love you!)
